VISION

Cinema is an out-of-body experience.

It can reach across borders and oceans and create empathy through the vivid telling of stories from everywhere — and there has never been a more important time to step into the shoes of people from other cultures. In this spirit, "Cinema is Everywhere" aims to inspire rather than educate. As a documentary it is informative and thorough, but its topic is not political and its characters are not crusaders; it is about the magic of stories beloved by billions of people, and a small group of dreamers who believe in the power of movies to create momentary meaning amid the roar of our complex world.

We invite you to share in the movement and discover that everybody, everywhere, is making, watching, and adoring cinema. Not just Hollywood blockbusters; not just the European arthouse scene; not just the east Asian action and horror trend — everyone. Places like Iran, Burkina Faso, Thailand, Romania, Argentina, Tunisia... Everyone. Write to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to get involved, or catch the documentary at an upcoming screening, starting in Austin, USA, on October 22nd.

SYNOPSIS

Four stories from China, India, Scotland, and Tunisia are woven together with archival footage and insights from acclaimed filmmakers and ordinary moviegoers. A young crew in Hong Kong embarks on the shooting of their first film; an aspiring actress in Mumbai battles to break into Bollywood; a Tunisian director anticipates the premiere of his controversial documentary film; and two friends in Scotland put on a festival unlike anything you've seen before... Each of these stories is tied together with vignettes set in video stores, projection booths, cinemas, homes, and slums, to form a vivid meditation on the power of cinema to shape our world.
